I.Job Summary
Via the hospital switchboard, receives all incoming calls.Maintains file of patients and assigned room numbers.Page over hospital intercom and paging system.Diplomatically handles customers and is able to interact with difficult customer in a professional manner.Responds to all emergencies with immediate response.

A.Primary Job
Responsibilities:
1.Answers all incoming calls on the hospital switchboard/telephone system in a professional, efficient manner.Departmental guidelines require all calls to be answered on the first tome heard, whenever possible.Operators will responds immediately to all calls.
2.Pages doctors, house supervisors, hospital personnel and others over the paging and beeper system, when requested.
3.Efficiently and accurately pages all emergency codes and notifies required departments.
4.Answers questions and/or gives direction to visitors if Registration Clerks are busy.
5.Maintains alphabetical listing of all patients, excluding stress patients, either on alpha listing or via computer terminal.
6.Records all births, deaths, and transfers in log book.
7.May help distribute paychecks on weekends and/or holidays.
8.Maintains confidentiality of all information.
9.Maintains quality in all task assigned.
10.Demonstrates knowledge of, and supports, hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, the code of ethical behavior, and the corporate compliance plan.
B.Other Job
Responsibilities:
1.Crosstrained to work as a Patient Access Clerk, completely trained to work all areas within the department including Emergency Room and Main Registration.
2.Willing to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
3.Performs other clerical duties requested by Supervisor of Patient Access.
III.Job Specifications:
School or equivalent education required.Medical Terminology preferred.
B.Training and
Experience:Prior experience in dealing with public preferred.Prior experience on switchboard and computer preferred. Guest relations training desirable.
C.Job Knowledge:Must know how to operate switchboard and intercommunication system.Must be familiar with functions, location of various departments, and administrative policies governing divulgence of information.Must be familiar with basic computer keyboard movements.
IV.Essential Physical Requirements:Able to travel independentlybetween the switchboard and code panel and determine type of code/disaster and location.
V.Essential Mental Requirements:Ability to decipher emergency code operating instructions, paging procedures and all switchboard operations.
VI.Essential technical/motor skills:Ability to operate switchboard equipment, and record all pages, admissions, discharges, transfers on an alpha census listing.
VII.Essential sensory requirements:
A.Ability to converse in calm and friendly manner.
B.Ability to view data on hospital information system.
C.Ability to communicate on the phone.
D.Ability to communicate with employees and to answer and process questions.
E.Voice quality should be pleasant and easy to listen to.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
